the big M

Do you have an addiction?
I have. I have multiple numbers of addictions it is not funny.

I started watching Masterchef on channel 10 and I am watching it every single night without fail. What a loser right? And the worse thing is, in every single episode, one of the judges will say "this is the toughest competition ever" and that "it will be a masterchef first" and you know what? Being the loser me, I DO FALL FOR IT. episode after episode. SUCKAAAAAAAAAA!!!

If you have not seen the cast already, from left to right

Chat thai

Presenting: my current favourite

The queue to get seats at Chat Thai. There were never queues in Brisbane for food. Never! and you come to Sydney and you have queue to eat. TO EAT!!! I think I have a threshold. Queue for good food time threshold is = 45minutes. Anymore than that is a no no. Unless I have snacks with me whilst waiting:D

The bestest bestest crackling EVER.

Gai Chicken Satay

Thai Fried Rice

Boat Noodle Soup. It was apparently cooked in some chicken blood broth. Sounds pretty gross but someone on the next table was having it and we gave it a go. It was surprisingly good. Just minus the part that it has blood in it.

Pad thai and Pad Si Ew

We tried going over to Chat Thai again yesterday. Jo was given a docket which says that his waiting number is 71. We waited for half an hour and decided to duck back inside to check what's the current number. Guess what? F.I.F.T.Y
21 TABLES IN FRONT OF US.
WHAAAAAAAAATTTTTT

fish fish fishey

Welcome to the Sydney Fish Market!
One of the weekends, we were feeling healthy and decided to go for a morning walk to the FISH MARKET! Back at home, I used to follow my parents to the market for grocery shopping. Not to those fancy pancy supermarket deli type grocery shopping, but wet market grocery shopping.

Anyone who is visiting an Asian country sometime should definitely put wet market on your list of places to visit. And if you are of Asian descent, you should definitely check it out! It is wet, wet and wet everywhere. And guess what? That is how it gets it's name from! Market traders used to, I mean still do, use a bucket filled with water and pour it over the floor to wash everything away.

Well, Sydney's fish market is much cleaner. But you obviously can't expect the place to smell like a perfume shop or a coffee cafe. So be prepared, you will most definitely smell urmmm.. fish? hehe

Yan Yan

Have you had "Yan Yan" biscuit snacks before?
'Yan Yan' snack is a Japanese snack. If you have not heard about it before, it is made by Meiji, which is the same company which manufactured the popular "Hello Panda" biscuits. If you have never heard of Hello panda, you are either
1) the type of people who does not like grocery shopping (because all supermarkets have it)
and
2) you dislike snacks.

Yan yan snack

It comes with chocolate dippings on one side and biscuit sticks on the other. The biscuit sticks are printed or baked with words related to animals like
- Rabbit eat more carrots,
- Snail the snail mail,
- Chicken Kokekkoko
How random right?

It is really delicious though. And it is a good snack pack. Only as a snack pack though. If you have it when you are hungry, you need ten packs of them coz having a pack of them is like having a Tim tam

Manly

Manly Beeeeeeeeaaaacch (reminds me of Lily in How I met your Mother's "s*n of a beeeeeeeeeach" term. Anyways I am getting out of point)

Anyways, it is a sunny day and we have decided to explore Manly Beach. Manly beach is a beach about 17 kilometres away from Sydney City itself and it took us approx 45 minutes to get there from the city. That tells you how bad traffic is in Sydney.

Throughout the trip, I had a querry onto whether Manly beach a "man"ly man manly beach? OMG I am so lame. But I have decided to find out whether the name relates to any masculine qualities of mankind. Answer is....

According to wikipedia.com, the answer is...

YES! The beach is named Manly when a captain thought the indigenous people who were living at the beach were both confident and manly. Thus naming it Manly Beach! Am I a genius or what!
Anyways, presentingggggg....
Manly Beach!
